Bone marrow donor needed for 11 yo Russian Adoptee

Bone marrow donor needed for 11 yo Russian Adoptee

An 11 yr old boy, originally from Nizhny Tagil near Ekaterinburg, in Sverdlovsk Oblast, Russia, needs a bone marrow donation.

The boy, adopted as an toddler, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in November 2015. He has a genetic disorder and must have a bone marrow transplant.

Unfortunately, in the one billion people in the bone marrow donor registry, he has only two matches due to his ethnicity. At the moment, neither match is a possibility.

Encourage 18-44 years olds of Russian and Central Asian background to get a simple cheek swab to get registered! It is free and easy. Just go to www.bethematch.org and register to get a free kit sent to your home.

Registering can help not only this 11 year old boy, but others with similar ethnicity. Let's make sure there are potential donors for this boy and any others like him.
